The association now has more than 60 members, each of which can submit up to three projects per year.
Two projects supported by the Petzl Foundation, Phenoclim in 2007 and Makay Nature in 2009, received an award. They won a cash prize of 30,000 euros each, which allowed them to successfully complete their projects!
In 2009, eight projects for the protection of the environment were supported by the EOG Association:
ü Scientific exploration in the Makay range in Madagascar: already supported by the Petzl Foundation, this project aims to obtain the status of "protected area".
ü Resolving conflicts between people and predators in the Mamili National Park, in Namibia.
ü Protecting of red-footed falcons in Bulgaria.
ü Building shelters for sand martins and amphibians in the Czech Republic.
ü Recreating a "wilderness" forest by planting native species in the Czech Republic.
ü Protecting of brown bears in northern Spain.
ü Rebuilding a vital trail in the Eastern Alps which had become dangerous because of climate change.
ü Helping a group of British surfers to make a film aimed at increasing awareness of water pollution.
